Highland Park Branding

Branding a city is undoubtedly a challenge. Branding a 2.9 square mile city surrounded on all sides by Detroit and split down the middle by Woodward, the deteriorated city where the assembly line gave birth to the Model T and the Middle-class, is an interesting challenge. 

It was imperative that the identity reflect not only the rich history of Highland Park, but also its possibilities for a bright future. Placing rich imagery in combination with inspiring, yet realistic words brings residents (young and old, new and established) together in celebration of the city’s legacy, while attracting genuinely interested newcomers. The shape of the city is used as a frame- it holds the beauty, history and struggle experienced by the city and its residents. It offers a space for growth and recognition of what has been left standing.
